In ‘Australian Suite for Strings vol. 1’ you will find a variety of pieces ranging from level 1.5-2.5. All the works were based on Australian animals and have fun titles such as Cockatoo Conga, Pigmy Possum Pizzicato and Magpie March.

Look out for the long flicky tongue and scurrying of ants as our Echidna friend looks for some tucker! The notes dance and weave, much like the echidna's precise and deliberate steps. This Etude focuses on a concentrated and clear pizzicato sound. Look out for a nice crisp pizzicato across all registers with a particular focus on getting the faster quavers clear. This will come from having
a consistent pizzicato technique with good grounding both with the finger in the string and the thumb for stability. This piece is also great for ensemble skills in getting everyone to pizzicato at the same time. Pigmy Possum Pizzicato
"Pigmy Possum Pizzicato" is a delightful musical composition that invites listeners into the enchanting lives of the tiny and adorable pygmy possum. This piece weaves together the light-hearted charm of pizzicato playing with the light-hearted nature of these miniature marsupials. The whole piece is pizzicato, no bows are required! Picture the sound of an ambling possum moving around the trees, slowly eating and talking to the other animals in the bush. You can hear lots of call and response between the different parts.

Tawny Tango

Tawny Tango is inspired by the call of the Tawny Frog Mouth bird - it's repetitive chirps sound like a metronome. The piece uses lots of syncopated and interlocking rhythmic lines paired with a soaring melody to create an attractive tango sound. The work challenges budding musicians with intricate passages of syncopation, tenuto accenting, key changes, character and mood, timbral qualities and ensemble work.
